VTDigger is excited to work with Vermont Care Partners to promote the much-needed services of its sixteen respective member agencies which, includes NCSS. They also understand how important it is for our elected officials to know how to support the needs of Vermonters.
This thirteen-week series is a collaboration produced by members of the Vermont Care Partners statewide network of sixteen non-profit, community-based agencies providing mental health, substance use and intellectual and developmental disability support.
Below is the nineth installment of the series from CCN – Rutland Mental Health Services focusing on bringing historically office-based supports out into the community.

CCN-Rutland Mental Health Services & Vermont Care Partners bring historically office-based supports out into the community
“She was there when the state troopers came to help me when I was in crisis – it was when I saw her that I began to calm down from my mania. Having a woman by my side in the midst of police cars and men with guns really helped me to understand that I was safe and that the troopers and everyone wanted the best for me. The crisis worker talked to me gently and compassionately and by just being there helped my brain start to process properly and to take me down from my psychosis.”
These are the sentiments shared by an individual assisted by a community-based Rutland Mental Health Services clinician during the most critical of times.
Rutland Mental Health Services is the Designated Agency under the Community Care Network (CCN) umbrella, a consortium of programs providing behavioral health, developmental disabilities, volunteer, and early childhood education services to the greater Rutland Region in southern Vermont.
