The month of April is Autism Acceptance Month. And during May NCSS will be holding the 10th annual Autism Walk of Northwest Vermont at Collins Perley in St. Albans.
Since being established in 2008, the School Based Autism program has continually evolved to meet the needs of our community. Initially designed to support students with autism spectrum disorder, services now reach a wide range of students with varying diagnoses and individual needs, helping them to access their education and make progress on their individual goals.
With this, NCSS is excited to announce a change in the program name from the “School Based Autism Program” to “School Based Adaptive Program”, to better represent the range of services that the team provides. Shawna Shappy and Megan Gargano discuss the various services that the NCSS School Based Adaptive Program provides individuals diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder while also reaching a wide range of students with varying diagnoses and individual needs, helping them to access their education and make progress on their individual goals. Plus, we’ll delve into some specifics of the upcoming Autism Walk.
