Members of the Knights of Columbus, Council 297, St. Albans, Vermont, passed out tootsie rolls, and solicited donations for NCSS’s Camp Rainbow, before and after masses at Churches in the area. This continues a tradition of supporting NCSS’s Camp Rainbow which creates an exciting camp experience for children with a diagnosis of autism or other developmental disability.
The following area Churches participated in the fundraiser: Holy Angels, St. Mary’s, St. Patrick’s in Fairfield, St. Anthony’s in East Fairfield, and Ascension in Georgia. Recently, members of the Knights of Columbus, St. Albans Council 297 presented a check for $800.02 to Merry Hill, Coordinator of Camp Rainbow, at the Northwestern Counseling & Support Services Ted Mable Family Center in St. Albans, Vermont. This follows another donation earlier this year in the amount of $887.60.
In the spirit of the holiday season, NCSS is grateful to the Knights of Columbus, Council 297, for their continued generosity and support of Camp Rainbow.
About Camp Rainbow
Camp Rainbow was developed to provide children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disability a typical “summer camp experience” – fun activities, outdoor play, swimming, crafts, singing, friendships. Such an experience is not always available to children with these diagnoses due to cognitive, physical, and behavioral challenges. Skilled Staff and Volunteers of Camp Rainbow offer the campers opportunities designed to meet these challenges and support success.
