VTDigger is excited to work with Vermont Care Partners to promote the much-needed services of its sixteen respective member agencies which, includes NCSS. They also understand how important it is for our elected officials to know how to support the needs of Vermonters.

This thirteen-week series is a collaboration produced by members of the Vermont Care Partners statewide network of sixteen non-profit, community-based agencies providing mental health, substance use and intellectual and developmental disability support.

Below is the fifth installment of the series from the Counseling Service of Addison County (CSAC) highlighting supported employment – wellness, meaningful work, and filling jobs.

Employment is good for mental health, and Supported Employment helps people get jobs and keep jobs

You’ve likely heard it. Employers across Vermont and nationwide are struggling to fill vacancies. Last year, Vermont led the nation in the number of job vacancies per person. 

At the same time, good employment is good for mental health, and being out of work “poses a risk to mental health.” Supported Employment programs across Vermont Care Partner network agencies, like Counseling Service of Addison County (CSAC), help bridge the divide by bringing meaningful employment to employees and skilled employees to employers. 

Supported Employment, an integral part of CSAC’s serviceshelps individuals find and maintain meaningful jobs in their community. CSAC’s Supported Employment Specialists (ES) team offers competitive job placement and consulting services across several programs for individuals served in Developmental Services (DS), adult mental health, and younger individuals (aged 16-22) in our JOBS programs.  Read more…
